The Foo Fighters have been one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most beloved bands since the 1990s and have released 10 solid albums during their career. Dave Grohl started the Foo Fighters project following the disbandment of Nirvana. He wrote and recorded the entire self-titled debut album on his own, which he did for a cathartic release after Kurt Cobain’s death. It was commercially successful upon release, selling 400,000 units in its first week and debuting at No. 23 on the Billboard 200.
By the time Grohl went to work on his follow-up, he recruited musicians to help him, including Pat Smear, Nate Mendel and Taylor Hawkins, all three of whom became official band members. color and shape debuted at No. 10 on the Albums Chart, and it became clear that Foo Fighters was a machine meant to keep going.
The Foos have released eight more albums since then, the most recent being 2021 Medicine at midnight. All also peaked in the Top 10 of the chart, two of which went to No. 1. They had a solid run of sold-out stadiums and headlining festivals throughout, until the start of this year, when Hawkins tragically passed away while the band was preparing. for representation in Colombia.
Although Foo Fighters’ future is uncertain, they have so far provided their fans with a solid discography to enjoy.
